A Storage Box is dedicated file storage space on a cPanel account, built for keeping backups and files rather than running applications. You upload and download data over FTP, SFTP, SSH or the web, and manage it with cPanel File Manager and Terminal. There is no operating system to maintain.
A storage VPS is a virtual server with its own operating system, root access, CPU and RAM that you must install, secure and update yourself. A Storage Box is a managed cPanel storage account: Flyhost looks after the server, security patches and disks, and you simply connect and store files.
Every plan includes FTP and FTPS, SFTP, SSH (so tools like scp and rsync work), web access over HTTPS, the cPanel File Manager and the cPanel Terminal in your browser.
Yes. Point any backup tool that supports FTP, SFTP or rsync over SSH at your Storage Box, including cPanel/WHM remote backups, WordPress backup plugins such as UpdraftPlus, and cron jobs on your own servers.
Storage Boxes use enterprise HDD storage, which gives you a large amount of space at a low price per GB. It is designed for backups, archives and file storage rather than for hosting live, database-driven websites.
Each plan includes a monthly transfer allowance from 2 TB to 20 TB, which is plenty for regular backups and restores. If you consistently need more, you can upgrade to a larger plan at any time or contact our team.
Yes. You can upgrade to a larger Storage Box at any time from the client area. Your files stay in place and the extra space is added to your account.
